Testimonials over 17+ years

I can honestly say that the best decision I made in the summer of 2010 was to let my mom drag me out of bed at the end of July and introduce me to Todd Smith.  As a collegiate athlete who was letting the summer get the better of her, I was in desperate need of a workout regime that would get me back into shape in a month.

I got that and more.

Since then, I have returned for almost all of my school breaks and long weekends.  Todd has helped me remain in shape and even recuperate from multiple nerve injuries in both arms.  His system is unique and can range from an intense, sweat-breaking workout to a mellower workout to relieve stress.  No matter what type of workout it is that day, though I leave Fitness In Motion feeling a little better than I did when I woke up that morning.  Beginning this summer(2011), I got to see the other side of Fitness In Motion by volunteering to assist at Fitness In Motion twice a week.  As far as volunteering requirements go for shcool, I picked the best one.  Assisting at Fitness In Motion mixes interpersonal communication skills with anatomical and physiological knowledge, physical capability, and a professional yet carefree setting.  The ability to communicate with people in a setting like this is a skill that I can use in almost any experience in the"real world," and I have gained a deeper understanding of the musculoskeletal system in the human body in a way that could not be taught in a classroom.

This fitness program has not only provided a unique exercise environment, but it has encouraged me to lead a healthier lifestyle.  I could not imagine my summers and school breaks without Fitness In Motion, and I cannot thank Todd enough for everything that he has done.

During my time at Fitness in Motion, I have not only grown as an athlete but as a person. As a competitive swimmer it is especially important to be strong both mentally and physically. Before I started at Fitness in Motion my mental and physical strength were nowhere close to where they needed to be. Coming in with a severe shoulder injury certainly did not help my mental state, but Todd reassured me that we would just change the work out to what I was capable of doing and not push my shoulder to the extreme. Even after the first couple weeks I began to notice the change not only in my strength in the water but the pain that I felt in my shoulder with every stroke seemed to dissipate. After my shoulder pain had ceased to be a hindrance for me, I was able to train harder inside and outside of the pool. With the help of the weight training and the hard work in the pool I was able to make top 24 at a national meet. This was something I had been dreaming about since I started swimming and I had finally achieved it thanks to Todd and all his help. But this quickly turned on Todd when I started to help him.

This summer Todd let me help him out with all the trainees. At first I have to admit I was very uneasy about it, but Todd threw me right in the mix and my first trainee was Bill. Poor Bill, he did not know what he was getting himself into, but he understood that I had no idea what I was doing and was patient with me when I gave him too light or heavy of weights for almost everything on the board that day. Helping Todd out this summer has been an amazing experience and I really enjoyed it, especially all the people who walked in and out of the door. This whole experience has made me sure that I want to continue with my sports management major and be involved with athletics and athletes for the rest of my life. Fitness in Motion has helped me tremendously and I enjoyed every minute of my time there. I will be going to the university of Connecticut in the fall and my college swim team trainer will be such a huge change from the atmosphere at Fitness in motion, and I will miss all the people that I met there these past years.         Thank you Todd!
